Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health Medical Assistant assists physicians and other clinicians or therapists in the coordination of patient care for new and established patients. Responsibilities include patient flow management documentation as well as occasional vitals. The MA/LPN will act as a liaison between providers and patients. MA /LPN duties may include both front and back office.
Education and Training:
High School graduate or GED equivalent is required. Must have graduated from or be about to complete a medical assisting program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). LPNs must be licensed by the state in which they practice.
Licensures/ Certifications:
- Washington State Medical Assistant - Certified.
- Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification card on hire or within orientation period.
- LPN may be considered.
Experience:
- The candidate must have minimum of one year of experience in a physician office hospital or ambulatory care facility; behavioral health setting is preferred.
- Must have a pleasant personality and experience dealing with the public and patients with special needs.
- Ability to work under pressure with a positive attitude and ability to organize information for quick retrieval is required.
- Preference with experience in deescalating patients in crisis.
Skills and Abilities:
- Computer skills medical terminology and experience with office assessments necessary
