Job Description
Summarized Purpose:
Manages the preparation and development of advanced compelling proposals focused on client solutionsthat are aligned with commercial and operational strategy. May act as a proposal strategy lead onassigned commercial opportunities.
EssentialFunctions
- Interprets and analyzes appropriate data to write and/or review study-specific
proposals that support client solutions incorporating graphics and tables as
needed.
- Works collaboratively to ensure the proposal and related documents align tooperational strategy and budget; ensures the proposal response meets clientsrequest and follows up with contributors and subject matter experts as needed.
- Works effectively with senior leadership as contributors and/or reviewers.
- Creates initial draft of bid defense presentation using tables and graphics fromproposal and then passes to project team for completion.
- Provides quality control and feedback on process or procedure improvementwithin department and/or cross-functionally.
- Assists in identifying need for and/or managing strategic library content.
- May mentor and coach junior team members.

- Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depthevaluation of variable factors.
Job Knowledge
- Having wide-ranging experience uses professional concepts and company objectivesto resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Some barriers to entryexist at this level (e.g. dept. / peer review). Level at which career may plateau.
Supervision Received
- Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinateactivities of other personnel (i.e. Team Lead). Exercises judgment in selectingmethods techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
Business Relationships
- Frequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives atvarious management levels concerning operations or scheduling of specific phases ofprojects or contracts. Creates formal networks with key contacts outside own areaof expertise.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
- Previous experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job (comparable to8 years).
- In some cases an equivalency consisting of a combination of appropriate education trainingand/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet therequirements of the role.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent project management skills and financial acumen as related to business and operationalstrategy
- Expertise in the companys differentiated solutions offerings; ability to work across therapeutic areas
- Strong ability to manage multiple activities and priorities with effective judgment and decisionmaking skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate in English bothorally and in writing with strong editing skills
- Adept at translating technical and scientific information into client-friendly proposals
- Critical and strategic thinking skills
- Excellent interpersonal organizational and negotiation skills and problem solving ability with abilityto interact and build relationships with individuals at all levels
- Knowledge of clinical development process including functional operations and regulatory guidelinesand directives across full spectrum of development activities
- Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
Working Conditions and Environment:
- Exposure to high pressure intense concentration needed
- Must pay constant attention to detail-visual mental
- Must be able to multitask constantly
- Frequent interaction with associates required
- Long varied hours required occasionally
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day.
- Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast simple repeated movements of the fingers hands and wrists.
- Frequent mobility required.
- Occasional crouching stooping bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
- Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
- Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen toand understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- Frequently interacts with others to obtain or relate information to diverse groups.
- Works independently with little guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans workschedules to meet goals. Requires multiple periods of intense concentration.
- Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditionswith little predictability as to the occurrence. Ability to perform under stress. Ability to multitask.
