Job Title: Controls Engineer Co-op
Department: Information Technology
Reports To: Sr. Automation Engineer
SUMMARY
The co-op student will be working on job assignments related to their computer science or engineering education. These increasingly challenging assignments will provide foremost an effective learning assignment and then a sound intellectual and/or financial return for the PCC organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the design development and implementation of control systems for various projects.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and test control algorithms and software.
- Participate in the troubleshooting and debugging of control systems.
- Support the integration of hardware and software components.
- Conduct research and analysis to improve existing control systems.
- Will work with controls and automation equipment.
- Prepare technical documentation and reports.
- Student will attend a weekly departmental meeting.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and review sessions.
- Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Basic understanding of control systems automation and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with PLCs HMIs and SCADA systems is a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C Python or MATLAB a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Full-time student pursuing a bachelors degree in computer science Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
