POSITION FUNCTION:

Under the supervision of the Interim Manager Building Blocks Vancouver Program the Family Support Home Visitor provides support to first-time parents and their children through home-visiting community-based activities and collaboration with BBV nurse and social worker consultants.



KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Initiate and maintain regular long-term contract and support with families through home visiting and other activities
  • Assist families in strengthening the parent-child relationship by providing guidance based on parenting and early childhood development principals in a Canadian context.
  • Use the peer support skills of modeling and mentoring to enhance family functioning.
  • Support families by helping them improve access to community resources.
  • Remain current with CARF standards relevant to the program project or service.
  • Keep client information up-to-date in physical files and electronically using OCMS and MOSAICs client management system.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have a certificate diploma or degree in Early Childhood Care and Education Social Services Community Development Counselling or in relevant fields
  • Have experience (2 or more years) in early childhood (0-6 years) development family or parenting and with immigrant populations and diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to speak read and write in fluent English and Spanish.
  • Case Management experience
  • Knowledge in early childhood development family/parent-child relationships settlement services community resources and agencies and specific knowledge related to home visitation.
  • Experience working with and supporting vulnerable populations through difficult situations (e.g. domestic violence) and making formal reports.
  • Awareness of boundaries
  • Have a working knowledge of standard office equipment and software applications (MS Office 365 virtual platforms word processing and spreadsheets).
  • Have a strong willingness to learn.
  • Culturally sensitive trauma-informed tactful patient and flexible.
  • Organized and able to set priorities meet deadlines and have problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Ability to set and maintain boundaries with clients and manage self-care.
  • Ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Current satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Understanding of Caseload and apply learned knowledge on time
  • Valid drivers license and car ownership are assets.


COMPENSATION: $28.58 - $29.25 per hour



HOURS:

28 hours per week fixed term until March 31 2026

While the work is primarily in person the successful candidate may be permitted to work a hybrid work model (combination of in-office and remote work). Candidate must be able to commute to the Boundary office and clients homes in Vancouver.
