Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader

The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader in our Slabmaking BOS Maintenance Team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

At our facility the process begins with molten iron produced by our Blast Furnace which is then transferred to our Basic Oxygen Steel Furnace (BOS). There it is mixed with recycled steel to create molten steel the molten steel is subsequently transferred to the Steel Treatment section where its grade is refined to meet customer specifications before being cast into slabs at the Slab Caster. The BOS handles most of the steel processing while the Steel Treatment section completes the final 10%. From here the molten steel is poured into slab casters resulting in a finished slab of steel ready for its next stage.

In this specialised leadership role you will lead a multi-skilled team focusing on the delivery of Mechanical Maintenance for our BOS Furnaces order to ensure operational productivity and asset management targets are achieved youll provide technical support through the investigation of equipment issues. Youll manage the teams success through their performance and productivity to ensure our business plan objectives and targets are continually met including overseeing external maintenance contractors.

What Will You Do

Reporting to the Asset Manager you will lead the mechanical maintenance team to maximise equipment uptime and improve plant condition while ensuring safety and environmental compliance. You will mentor a high-performing team in a dynamic manufacturing environment by:

• managing team members in the areas of performance timekeeping leave training and personal development.
• management of plant maintenance activities including strategy development and optimisations as well as the planning organising execution and review of maintenance.
• managing small-medium capital projects with the assistance of your team while having input on larger scale capital projects.
• ensuring safety standards are adhered to making suitable changes when risks and opportunities are identified.
• managing maintenance costs.
• supervising maintenance activities and strive for business improvements and manufacturing excellence.
• leading the roll out of digital integration projects.
• drive a strong cohesive and respectful team culture in line with BlueScopes values
