Job Summary

You will be part of Pfizers dynamic Global Access and Value (GAV) team and will have the important role of supporting the strategic goals of the Inflammation & Immunology (I&I) Business Unit (BU) within Specialty Care (SC) by ensuring continued reimbursement and access for VELSIPITY (etrasimod). The primary responsibility of this position is to lead all aspects of global market access and pricing strategy for VELSIPITY in Ulcerative Colitis. Additionally the role will support global market access and pricing strategy initiatives for LITFULO (ritlecitinib) across its lifecycle indications.

The Global Access Strategy and Pricing (GASP) Director will help to generate and synthesize global payer insights; lead regional / country cross functional and A&V training and negotiations to support ongoing launch activities evolve the global market access strategy including payer value proposition and pricing strategy across market archetypes. Additional responsibilities for this position include supporting the countries in the development of their market access and pricing strategies and related business cases.

The individual will report to the Access Strategy and Pricing Team Lead for Velsipity/ Cibinqo/ Litfulo.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate payer insights to understand and meet the evolving needs of payers

  • Represent the Voice of the Payer at cross-functional teams and governance bodies

  • Deliver clear recommendations relating to payer strategy pricing and reimbursement and payer evidence generation

  • Lead extended Access Matrix teams (AMT) on behalf of the Team Lead

  • Achieving the above will require the formation of and/or participation in virtual cross functional teams. When necessary convene and coordinate task force deployments related to specific asset threats and opportunities.

Generate & synthesize payer insights

  • Lead horizon scanning and in-depth understanding of payer regulations needs of all types of payers (e.g. HTA agencies institutions and patients) in key Pfizer markets.

  • Create and maintain expertise in payer regulation and priorities across major countries / archetypes in the region:

    • Assess and communicate external access trends to anticipate potential challenges and opportunities for pipeline & inline portfolio.

    • Gather and synthesize feedback for development programs with health technology assessment agencies payers and relevant patient associations within assigned region

  • Collaborate with HVE Clinical and Medical teams to provide input into potential future clinical trial designs and real-world evidence which incorporate the payer view.

Develop/Update payer value proposition and drive market access strategy

  • Support development and regional customization of the access strategy and delivery of the payer value proposition

  • Guide the organization on the payer evidence strategy by payer archetype

  • Refine deliverables by payer archetypes within assigned region

Pricing strategy & access strategy and decision support

  • Provide country support and guidance on managing payer negotiations within proposed price corridor business case development price approvals tactics / communications

  • Lead the global access and pricing strategy for Velsipity in Ulcerative Colitis and for Litfulos lifecycle indications.

  • Lead development of updated Brand Pricing Policy (BPP) as needed including by region/ archetype as needed to optimize the business opportunity for Pfizer following appropriate approval governance

  • Guidance on managing product launch within proposed price corridor launch sequence and negotiation playbook tools/techniques

  • Update key launch and in-line deliverables such as the Integrated Value and Access Strategy (IVAS)

Advance functional excellence in Global Market Access

  • Work with cross-functional teams including HTA Value and Evidence (HVE) Clinical Medical Marketing and International Commercial Office to identify and appropriately allocate resources per critical business needs.

  • Work efficiently and collaboratively in a highly matrixed environment

In addition you will be expected to:

  • Set the ambition and vision for value-based access to medicines

  • Champion the payer agenda internally and improve understanding of payer needs

  • Develop effective processes and ways of working to support collaboration with key internal stakeholder groups such as medical and health outcomes

You will be required to:

  • Identify new opportunities for value creation based on an understanding of health care systems and the potential benefits of Pfizer medicines

  • Support development of innovative approaches to evidence generation which meet payer needs and integrate these with the needs of other customers

This role will have a significant impact on several key deliverables such as:

  • Ability to manage earnings growth risk due to threats such as competitor pricing payer policy changes and the success of replacement earnings through new launches (securing price and reimbursement)

  • Ability to help patients do more feel better and live longer amidst a challenging macroeconomic environment and barriers to access

  • The overall revenue which can be achieved from the R&D organization by optimizing the value that can be created from the medicines in the pipeline

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelors degree required. Advanced degree in a healthcare business or economic field preferred (PH.D MD or MBA)

Experience: Minimum of 5 - 8 years experience in healthcare environment preferably pharmaceutical industry or related consulting services sufficient to have developed a deep understanding of the global payer and market access environment

In-depth knowledge of and experience in developing and executing Pricing & Market Access strategies and deliverables for the US and key ex-US markets such as Germany France UK Italy Spain Japan and China.

  • Knowledge and understanding of drug development process

  • Pharmaceutical business leadership including experience in strategy development and interaction with customers

  • Familiarity with strategic and operating planning processes

  • Knowledge and understanding of health economics and associated skills

  • Experience of managing people in a cross-cultural environment
