About the Role
ALTEN UK is looking for a Special Process Engineer to support our aerospace and defence clients in ensuring critical manufacturing processes such as heat treatment welding and NDT meet the highest quality and compliance standards.
Youll play a key role in developing validating and auditing special processes in line with customer regulatory and NADCAP requirements. This position offers the chance to work with major aerospace suppliers and help them optimise their manufacturing performance.
What Youll Be Doing
- Develop and optimise special processes including heat treatment welding & brazing NDT EDM chemical processing shot peening and coatings.
- Conduct process audits to ensure compliance with NADCAP AS9100 and customer-specific standards.
- Provide technical support and training to production and engineering teams.
- Support quality assurance through process monitoring testing and corrective actions.
- Prepare and maintain process documentation data cards and SOPs for internal and customer approval.
Qualifications :
What Were Looking For
Essential:
- Hands-on experience with several special processes (e.g. heat treatment NDT welding chemical processing).
- Experience with process compliance auditing or supplier quality.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable:
- Background in aerospace automotive or defence industries.
- Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma or continuous improvement methods.
- NDT qualification (e.g. Level 2/3).
- Experience supporting or auditing suppliers to NADCAP standards.
