Job Summary

Job Summary

Responsible for checking-in materials sorting book donations cataloging original cataloging book classification title research book processing book repair and aiding with department statistics for monthly reports. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain regular and prompt attendance; physically present to work.
  • Performs after hours work as required (nights and weekends)
  • Assist with emergency response as needed by city hall and local EOC.
  • Receives incoming materials and processes accordingly.
  • Sort and classify book material as needed.
  • Mends and repairs damaged items.
  • Assist with Summer Feeding Program and Summer Reading Program.
  • Supervises children in Porter Doss Building after school.
  • Prepares monthly reports.
  • Labeling of circulation and record circulation issues.
  • Conduct librarys inventory.
  • Assists with set up and cleanup of miscellaneous meetings in Porter Doss Building.
  • Prepares and Assists with any special events when needed.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must have High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • One (1) year of related work experience to perform such job.
  • Applicant must pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen at Citys expense.
  • Applicant must have current valid Class C Drivers License and be insurable.
  • Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first three months of hire date.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.

  • AACR conventions and Dewey classification.
  • Effective working relationships.
  • Superior spelling grammar and clerical ability.
  • Organization skills.
  • Data processing.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Office software.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Occasional walking standing and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting moving or positioning objects up to 30lbs.
