Cafeteria Aide (Floater)

Primary Function

The Child Nutrition Cafeteria Aide (Floater) supports the schools mission to provide healthy appealing and nutritious meals to all scholars. This position is assigned to serve between two campus locations ensuring smooth cafeteria operations by assisting with food preparation service cleaning and compliance with child nutrition standards. The floater role requires flexibility reliability and the ability to adapt quickly to different school environments and team needs.

Terms of Employment

Full-time / 10 months / Hourly $14.00-$15.00 / 6:30 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.

Cafeteria Aide Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing any and all meal programs (meals in the classroom field trip meals traditional breakfast/lunch special diets etc.)
  • Expected to be able to work in a fast paced environment all while providing excellent customer service program compliance and resolving conflicts under pressure.
  • Travel between two assigned campuses as needed providing coverage where support is most required.
  • Adapt to varying kitchen setups team routines and schedules while ensuring consistent quality and service.
  • Support cafeteria managers and team members to meet daily service needs at both campuses.
  • Assist with preparing portioning and serving meals according to USDA guidelines and school nutrition standards.
  • Set up stock and maintain food service lines to ensure efficient and safe service to students and staff.
  • Provide courteous and friendly service to students staff and families.
  • Follow all federal state and local regulations related to child nutrition programs.
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards including proper storage temperature monitoring and cleaning procedures.
  • Adhere to allergy and dietary restriction protocols.
  • Wash dishes sanitize kitchen equipment and maintain cleanliness of the cafeteria and kitchen areas.
  • Assist with daily weekly and monthly cleaning schedules.
  • Teach our scholars the importance of responsibility and teamwork when it comes to keeping our cafeterias clean create special moments with them daily and learn their first names.
  • Perform other related duties as required by CNP Director and/or designee.

Certification and/or License Requirements

  • Must hold a Food Handlers License or obtain one within 60 days of employment.

Education Requirement

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or one year relevant work experience.

Job Requirements/Regulations

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs or 50 lb with assistance
  • Must complete 6 hours of USDA Professional Standard training annually.
  • Work flexible hours (early mornings longer/shorter shifts nights)
  • Must wear a hair restraint and non-slip shoes when preparing/serving food.
  • No jewelry besides a wedding band or necklace that can be tucked into shirt
  • Nails must be kept short and unpolished
  • No wearing of strong perfumes/cologne
  • No cell phone use unless an emergency

Professionalism & Communication

  • Demonstrate professionalism by being in regular attendance and arriving on time to work staff meetings parent nights and other assigned duties. Must be able to work early mornings.
  • Complete required training(s) on time.
  • Check staff email a minimum of twice daily and all staff texts.
  • Follow through on assignments and show independence by completing tasks from beginning to end.
  • Work cooperatively to create an atmosphere of unity among the school community and refrain and stop any gossip negativity and unsupportive comments.
  • Read and comply with all child nutrition policies and procedures. Includes but not limited to; HACCP/SOPs Scholar Special Dietary Needs USDAs Parent Complaint Form Field Trip Order Forms Meal Charge Policy Cash Collection and Handling Local School Wellness Policy and Emergency Preparedness Plan.
  • Read and comply with the Procedures Manual Employee Handbook Scholar Handbook and Scholar Code of Conduct
  • Demonstrate professionalism at ALL times. Exercise wisdom by remaining calm respectful and non-defensive during disagreements and personal attacks.
  • Utilize professional communication with strong grammar syntax usage and/or spelling skills during phone conversations personal conversations emails and social media such as Facebook Instagram Twitter etc.
  • Exhibit professionalism in appearance and follow the Beta Academy standard of dress. Apply this standard of dress to personal social media posts in regards to modesty in dress and action (ex: swimsuit cleavage & shirtless pictures in addition to posts with alcohol cigarettes and bars etc.).
