Job Summary

Job Title: QC Inspector Offshore Shutdown (Piping/Welding/NDT)

Location: Qatar (Offshore North Field Ras Laffan)
Industry: Oil & Gas (Shutdowns/Turnarounds)
Employment Type: Contract (36 months extendable)
Rotation: (6 weeks ON / 6 weeks OFF)

Job Description:

The QC Inspector ensures all mechanical piping and welding activities comply with project specifications codes and safety standards during offshore shutdowns.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Assurance & Compliance:
  • Inspect piping installations welding valve fitting and structural repairs per ASME B31.3 API 570 and client standards (QP/Qatargas/Shell).
  • Verify material certifications (MTCs) WPS/PQR and NDT reports (RT/UT/MPI/PT).
  • Monitor bolt torqueing flange alignment and gasket installation.
    • Witness welding processes (SMAW GTAW FCAW) and ensure compliance with WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications).
    • Review NDT (Radiography Ultrasonic Dye Penetrant) results and approve/reject welds.
      • Maintain inspection test reports (ITRs) punch lists and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
      • Use SAP or ICAP systems for QA/QC documentation.
        • Ensure PTW (Permit to Work) LOTO and confined space safety protocols are followed.
        • Coordinate with construction supervisors engineers and third-party inspectors.

        Qualifications & Experience:

        • Education: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Welding Engineering or related field.
        • Certifications (Mandatory):
        • CSWIP 3.1/3.2 (Welding Inspection) AWS CWI or ASNT Level II (RT/UT/MPI/PT).
        • BGAS/NACE (for coating inspection if applicable).
        • BOSIET/HUET (Offshore Safety Certification).
          • 5 years in oil & gas QC inspection with 3 years offshore shutdown experience.
          • Familiarity with QatarEnergy (QP) Shell or TotalEnergies standards.
            • Proficient in reading P&IDs isometrics and ITPs (Inspection Test Plans).
            • Knowledge of SAP AutoCAD and MS Office.

            Market Wage in Qatar (2025):

            • Daily Rate: $400/day (varies by certifications and project urgency).
            • Junior QC Inspectors: $350/day (contractors).
            • Senior QC Inspectors (CSWIP/ASNT Level III): $600day (QP/Qatargas projects).
