Head of Global Data Management (JG 21)

The Global Data Organisation serves as the first line of defense in securing robust data chains working in close collaboration with all functions business lines and countries across the Bank.
The Global Chief Data Office (CDO) plays a pivotal role in this mission. As a central organizational unit the CDO partners with stakeholders across the enterprise to enable frictionless customer journeys support ESG-driven innovation and deliver data products that enhance decision-making. With emerging trends such as digital wallets on the horizon and increasing regulatory expectations around data governance the CDO is evolving to meet these challenges head-on ensuring our data remains both a strategic asset and a safeguarded resource.
The opportunity
As part of Global CDO the Global Data Management team is responsible for building our design capability and establishing our global mandate over our data frameworks and controls. They define maintain and continuously improve ING global standards for Data Governance Data Quality Data Protection AI and Data Ethics ensuring consistent application across the Bank and full alignment with both regulatory expectations (BCBS29 GDPR AI Act DORA etc.) and INGs business objectives.
To realize this we are moving towards a leaner data management function with much stronger functional ties to countries and functions to stimulate co-creation of data management standards work-instructions frameworks and embedding full ownership of data processes and controls in the entire organization. The Global Data Management team will work closely with the operations and transformation capabilities of CDO to ensure that data delivered across the Bank is adherent to our global policies and frameworks.
TheGlobal Head of Data Managementis pivotal to the realization of INGs ambition towards data-driven digital leadership responsible for the ING data management strategy and leading the global Data management organization within CDO. Tasked with the mandate of bringing all data used at ING under governance protection and management the Global Head of Data Management hierarchically leads a group of expert leads on in different topics around Data Protection and Data Governance.
Your Responsibilities
As Head of Global Data Management you are responsible for:
Enable the design steering and oversight of ING data governance and data protection frameworks standards and policies
Create a strong functional network across group functions and local domains to initiate the co-creation of different data governance and data protection frameworks and help facilitate and support both global and local implementations.
Responsible to ensure the development of unified standards work instructions functional requirements related test plans that are rolled out bank-wide and providing oversight on bank-wide control evaluation through Key Control Testing (Test of Design and Test of Effectiveness) and continuous monitoring (e.g. KPIs KRIs Attestation etc.).
Design ING global Data Management strategy frameworks and policy and contributing to overall CDO strategy. Initiator and end-responsible for frameworks and standards.
As part of the Global data leadership create the vision to link data management policies to data services execution and transformation from strategy to execution at scale
Align ING data management frameworks and policies with the purpose to realize business value increase business income decrease cost improve our customer experience and ensure compliancy with a consistent and efficient implementation of the ING Bank wide Data Management standards.
Provide thought-leadership in Data Management data / AI governance and data protection
Build culture where data is valued protected and used in line with overall banks strategy
Be a trusted partner to the leadership of the bank both centrally and in the domains in INGs ambition towards bringing all our data under governance
Represent the bank for data management and data privacy topics with regulatory entities
People management direct Data Management MT members consisting of expert leads on key data topics including Data management Controls EUC Reporting Controls Data Risk AI (Data) Governance Data Risk Data & AI Ethics Data Protection.
Functionally steer the global data management organization with the task of creating and maintaining world class data management services
Achieving proficient data maturity in the pillars of data management ranging from data governance data protection data quality governance and issuing monitoring remediation and oversight operations for data of the bank.
Your competencies
We are seeking a visionary and results-driven leader to spearhead our global data management initiatives. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of data strategy across the organization driving transformation and building high-performing cross-border teams. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of strategic foresight execution excellence and people leadership.
15 years of enterprise data leadership experience combined with C-Suite / Board communication skills
Experience on both strategic and operational execution levels in complex matrix structures and for complex client groups
Experience as people lead in different cultures (groups 200 FTE)
Track record of leading major information management programs in key business area
Must have financial services domain knowledge including expertise at the intersection of risk finance and customer domains.
Has experience working in a large (international) matrix organization
Highly appreciated team player collaborates easily with business stakeholders
Known for being hands-on and a reliable executor
Has a multicultural mind-set and a highly customer-focused outlook
Proven track record in finding growing and promoting talent
