History Teacher – Northamptonshire – January 2026

The Opportunity
A vibrant and high-aspiring 1118 academy in Northampton is seeking a dedicated History Teacher to join its humanities team from January 2026 (or earlier). This full-time permanent position will see you teaching across Key Stages 35 including A-Level. • Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification
• Has strong subject knowledge and experience teaching History through GCSE and ideally A-Level
• Can deliver lessons that stimulate enquiry debate and critical thinking
• Uses assessment questioning and reflection to deepen student understanding
• Works well in teams adapts to change and remains focused on student progress

Experience of organising field trips linking with local heritage sites or museums or leading enrichment (debating research clubs history societies) will strengthen your application.

The Role in More Detail
You will plan rigorous engaging lessons across the full age range encouraging historical thinking analysis of sources and student-led investigation. You will contribute to curriculum development assessment design and cross-curricular projects (e.g. linking with English Politics or Geography). You may lead visits to heritage sites local archives or museums and support scholarship or research projects for Sixth Formers.

Collaboration is central: the history team shares resources co-plans and regularly evaluates practice. Your voice will be heard; youll be empowered to bring in fresh ideas and help shape the direction of the subject area.
