Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Scrum Master to join our team in Montreal. The successful candidate will be a key player in our agile transformation coaching and empowering our development teams to deliver high-quality products efficiently. You will be a servant-leader ensuring the team adheres to Scrum principles and practices and actively working to remove impediments manage risks and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Agile Facilitation:
- Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning Daily Scrum Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective.
- Ensure the team understands and follows Scrum principles and practices.
- Promote a collaborative and productive team environment ensuring a safe space for open communication and healthy conflict.
- Coaching & Mentoring:
- Coach the development team on self-organization and cross-functionality.
- Support the Product Owner in managing the product backlog and ensuring a clear understanding of product goals and scope.
- Mentor less-experienced colleagues and other teams on agile methodologies and best practices.
- Impediment Removal & Risk Management:
- Identify and proactively remove any impediments or obstacles that hinder the teams progress.
- Manage and help mitigate risks and issues escalating to the appropriate stakeholders when necessary.
- Protect the team from external distractions and interferences.
- Stakeholder Management & Communication:
- Facilitate effective communication between the Scrum Team Product Owner and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Report on team progress and performance using relevant metrics (e.g. velocity sprint burndown).
- Ensure transparency and visibility of the teams work to all stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and help the team conduct effective retrospectives.
- Encourage the team to find innovative solutions and experiment with new ways of working.
- Lead the team in refining their processes and enhancing their productivity.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Scrum Master in a true agile environment.
- Experience working within the financial industry is a significant asset.
- Proven experience in coordinating and/or leading large cross-functional teams.
- Experience with project management is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with agile management tools such as JIRA Confluence or similar.
- Knowledge of scaled agile frameworks (e.g. SAFe) is an asset.
- Familiarity with transactional data reporting and financial products (e.g. OTC products) is highly desirable for specific roles.
- Certifications (one or more of the following is an asset):
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
- Professional Scrum Master (PSM I)
- SAFe Scrum Master (SSM)
- Personal Attributes & Competencies:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
- High degree of emotional intelligence and empathy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A strong sense of accountability and a customer-focused mindset.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is often an asset in the Montreal market.
