Job Summary
A well-established and growing contractor in the Bronx NY is seeking an experienced Estimator with a strong background in heavy construction. This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable firm working on complex high-value infrastructure and site development projects.
The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of civil infrastructure utilities and site-work estimating combined with the ability to prepare accurate and competitive bids. The Estimator will work closely with operations project management and executive leadership to support strategic growth and project success.
Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Review project plans specifications and related documents to develop complete and accurate cost estimates for heavy construction projects.
Quantify and price all materials labor equipment subcontractor and indirect costs for bids and proposals.
Prepare detailed take-offs scope sheets and bid documents in accordance with project requirements.
Solicit evaluate and manage subcontractor and vendor pricing to ensure competitive and comprehensive coverage.
Develop and maintain unit pricing databases and historical cost data.
Participate in pre-bid meetings site visits and bid strategy sessions with leadership.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to analyze constructability risk and value engineering opportunities.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of bids RFQs and change order estimates.
Track bid results maintain estimating logs and support continuous improvement of estimating processes.
Support hand-off to project teams post-award ensuring a clear understanding of scope pricing and assumptions.
Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in heavy construction including site-work utilities civil or infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of construction means methods materials and local market pricing.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g. HCSS HeavyBid Bid2Win B2W Estimate or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings specifications and technical documents.
Excellent attention to detail analytical skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Strong communication skills for coordinating with subcontractors suppliers and internal teams.
Bachelors degree in Construction Management Civil Engineering or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
Familiarity with NYC and NYS public agency bidding processes a plus.
