Position Overview

The Biostatistics internship is designed for full- or part-time students pursuing an MS MPH or PhD in Statistics or Biostatistics. The intern will work closely with an experienced Biostatistician to participate in statistical research related to analytical or clinical development or post-marketing of oncology screening diagnostic or therapy selection products. The individual will collaborate with internal team members in the design statistical analysis reporting and potential publication of one or more clinical research studies.

Essential Duties

Include but are not limited to the following:

Apply statistical methodologies and perform analysis of non-clinical or clinical study data and present results to a cross-functional team
Demonstrate working knowledge of a wide variety of principles theories and concepts in statistics and experimental design; must be able to apply them to the development and analysis of studies specific to molecular diagnostics
Summarize the work for future departmental use and potentially produce a peer-reviewed publication
Attend seminars and other department activities to enhance the understanding of daily work of biostatisticians
Conduct analyses using SAS and/or R
Apply basic statistical methodology learned in an academic setting to a real-world industry setting
Display strong communication skills with the ability to interpret results to both technical and non-technical audiences
Exercise strong organizational skills with an emphasis on reproducibility and traceability of project work and program files
Uphold company mission and values through accountability innovation integrity quality and teamwork.
Support and comply with the companys Quality Management System policies and procedures.
Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.

Scheduling requirements:

Ability to work designated schedule.

Physical requirements:

Ability to work on a mobile device tablet or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a masters or doctoral degree program in Statistics or Biostatistics.
Preference giving to candidates with a record of outstanding academic achievement.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Salary Range:

$40250.00 - $64400.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - CA - San Diego on a full-time basis.
