Job Summary

Purpose of the job:

The Driver is responsible for safely operating assigned vehicles to transport staff visitors and materials as required. The role ensures adherence to traffic rules organizational policies and vehicle maintenance standards to support smooth operations.

This position is based in SNV Sylhet Office with frequent travel to other program areas as and when required.

Key Responsibilities

Driving & Transportation

  • Safely drive staff visitors and goods to designated destinations on time by effective route planning.
  • Ensure compliance with traffic rules and road safety regulations.
  • Maintain professional conduct and courtesy while transporting passengers.

Vehicle Care & Maintenance

  • Conduct daily checks of vehicle condition (fuel oil water battery brakes tires etc.).
  • Keep the vehicle clean both inside and outside at all times.
  • Report any mechanical issues damages or required servicing immediately.
  • Ensure timely servicing fitness insurance and registration of the vehicle.

Documentation & Records

  • Maintain a logbook for mileage fuel consumption and service records.
  • Assist in managing transport schedules and ensuring efficient use of vehicles.
  • Ensure all required vehicle documents (license insurance registration) are updated and kept in the vehicle.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow organizational policies and procedures for vehicle use.
  • Ensure passenger safety including the use of seatbelts.
  • Take immediate action in case of accidents and report promptly as per policy.

Other Duties

  • Support office deliveriesand administrative tasks when required.
  • Provide logistical support during field visits events or emergencies.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications :

Qualifications and other Requirements

  • Minimum SSC pass.
  • Valid driving license with at least 10 years of driving experience preferably in an NGO or similar organization.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in Bangla and basic English.
  • Sound knowledge of transport rules and regulations.
  • Awareness of safety and security protocols including basic first aid measures.
  • Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance procedures.
  • Willingness to work under pressure and undertake frequent field travel.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse local and international backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with local roads traffic regulations and routes.
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Physically fit and able to work flexible hours including evenings or weekends if needed.
  • Previous experience driving for NGOs/companies (preferred).

Additional Information :

Duty stations                   : Sylhet with frequent travel to project cities

Expected Joining Date   :  As soon as possible.

Working Hours                : Minimum of 48 hours per week

Salary & Benefits            : The total gross salary package (basic salary House Rent Allowance Transportation Allowance Medical Allowance) will range between BDT 36466 and BDT 40856. per month depending on the selected candidates work experience and competencies.
