Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work within a treatment team to help provide coordinated mental/behavioral health care to patients.
  • Provide documentation of patient care in accordance with AWARE policy and professional standards utilizing AWAREs electronic health record as outlined trained and assigned.
  • Create psychiatric care plans and integrate with existing behavioral/psychotherapeutic plans/
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribe appropriate psychiatric medications as indicated.
  • Recognize physical health issues and refer for patients for care as necessary.
  • Be available to teams as a resource regarding medications and treatments.
  • Evaluate responses to treatments and medications.
  • Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Act as an advocate for patients both within and outside of the organization.
  • Provide education and support to staff patients and families on managing psychiatric illness and disability.
  • Maintain licensure and certification required by AWARE the State of Montana and the federal government.
  • Participates in peer/record review process and other quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Performs at or above productivity benchmarks identified by AWARE so that services are sustainable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements


Talents Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge and commensurate skills in providing psychiatric care to children adolescents and adults including those with co-existing intellectual / developmental disabilities.
  • Accurate and effective written and verbal communication skills and comfort working as part of and sharing decision-making with a therapeutic team.
  • Masters or Doctorate degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program;
  • Must have APRN licensure in the state where employed or a compact party state and be board certified;
  • ANCC or AANP Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or equivalent experience (to be determined by Medical Director);
  • Must have prescriptive authorization;
  • Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information systems as well as medical records and point-of-interview technology; readiness to learn and adapt to new technology as it is adopted by AWARE and to provide input to the selection and implementation of such technology
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form with partners at various levels: patients family members physicians members of the treatment team and representatives of the community;
  • Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA and OSHA
