(PCC) acquired January 2022 Progressive merged with ADI Aerospace Dynamics Inc. and now ADI Progressive is one of the largest footprints within the Aerostructures Division of PCC.
Predominantly a provider for large highly complex machined parts kits and assemblies for OEMs and large Tier One providers for both military and commercial market segments. Progressive is a 140000 square foot facility.
Position Summary:
The Health and Safety/Continuous Improvement Specialist inspects and evaluates the environment equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards. Their chief goal is to protect the employees customers and the environment. The HS CI Specialist identifies potentially hazardous mechanical biological chemical and radiological materials and collects samples of them for analysis. They also recommend changes to protect workers educate employees on how to prevent health problems with the use of safety training programs and investigate accidents to identify their causes and find ways to prevent them in the future. The HS CI Specialist supports functional areas with lean and CI training process definition and optimization facilitation of proposed lean and CI initiatives and implementation and metrics addition recommends changes to encourage and achieve efficient horizontal and vertical integration of Division top-down goals along with best-practices gathered from bottom-up review.
Reporting Relationships:
The Health and Safety/Continuous Improvement Specialist will report to the Plant Manager.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Health and Safety:
- Understand adhere and demonstrate to the companys commitment to QUALITY and SAFETY!
- Administer environmental health and safety programs to meet regulatory requirements and company goals.
- Provide leadership and technical expertise with regard to risk assessment activities so to minimize EHS related risk (e.g. fire environmental releases injuries and illnesses etc.).
- Develops and implements facility-wide policies procedures and HS training programs to ensure compliance with applicable state/country regulatory requirements and industry standards on a country regional and global basis.
- Conducts accident and incident investigations.
- Actively promotes health and safety activities participates in committees and meetings emergency response teams and provides miscellaneous services.
- Promote positive relationships with government agencies.
- Lead Workers Compensation case reporting and follow-up.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunity and manage additional or lean and continuous improvement (CI) projects training initiatives and issues
- Develop and maintain continuous improvement processes policies and procedures; Insure effectiveness through teamwork and statistical methods
- Motivate direct and indirect reporting staff to achieve desired results.
- Communicate effectively with site management and employees.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Self-starter; ability to identify opportunities recommend and implement solutions independently
- Experience with Safety and Industrial Hygiene practices and environmental compliance
- Proven experience using different ERP systems EHS Management software etc.
- Experience developing and deploying safety programs in a plant environment
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge in OSHA regulations and environmental safety regulations.
- Knowledge understanding and prior experience implementing Toyota Production System/JIT/Lean in a manufacturing environment
- Experience conducting lean/CI workshops or similar cross-functional brainstorms
- Familiar with ISO/AS9100 Quality requirements
- Good blueprint reading and manufacturing/inspection related math skills
- Strong understanding of the concepts and capabilities that pertain to Aerospace manufacturing
- Strong leadership relationship building teaming and communication skills
- Ability to affect changes from non-reporting personnel
- Willingness to observe train others and find win-win type recommendations
- Demonstrates prioritization and planning skills.
Required Experience:
- 5 years of Health and Safety and/ or engineering experience in the manufacturing environment
- Experience in the aerospace or automotive industry is preferred
- Lean/Six Sigma certification desirable.
Level of Education:
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field is preferred.
Physical Demands & Working Condition:
- May be required to move items up to 35 pounds.
- Daily duties may require sitting standing bending squatting reaching pushing pulling operating and manipulating hand tools.
- Daily duties may require extended duration of walking.
- Exposed to a Manufacturing setting with heavy machinery.
