Position Overview
The intern will support the development of ML/AI algorithms for Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) screening test. This role will involve working with multi-modal datasets and generating features from next-generation sequencing (NGS) and PCR-based assays. The intern will have the opportunity to train and validate cutting-edge models aimed at improving cancer detection methods.
Essential Duties
Include but are not limited to the following:
Develop and implement ML/AI algorithms.
Work with large multi-modal datasets including NGS and PCR-based assays and biochemical assays to generate novel features for model training.
Train validate and optimize ML models to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of cancer detection.
Analyze and interpret data to provide actionable insights and improvements to existing models.
Document research findings and present results to the team.
Apply strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members across various departments.
Exercise excellent problem-solving skills to address complex challenges in cancer detection methods.
Incorporate advanced analytical and critical thinking skills to refine and validate models.
Display a proactive learning mindset to stay updated with the latest advancements in ML/AI and bioinformatics.
Uphold company mission and values through accountability innovation integrity quality and teamwork.
Support and comply with the companys Quality Management System policies and procedures.
Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
Scheduling Requirements:
Ability to work the designated schedule.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work on a mobile device tablet or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 80% of a typical working day.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a bachelors degree program in computer science bioinformatics computational biology or related field.
Ability to implement algorithms in common programming languages such as Python or R.
Ability to query and reshape large datasets
Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
