Our Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Scientist for our Chemical Regulation and Food Safety Practice to be based in our Washington DC this role you will work as part of a team of consultants to utilize your education experience and skills related to Nutrition Epidemiology Biostatistics and Public Health Nutrition Research to apply data-driven quantitative approaches in support of multi-disciplinary projects.
You will be responsible for
- Conducting epidemiological analyses and systematic reviews of relevant literature
- Analyzing data for use in technical assessments focused on estimating food consumption patterns and associated intake of nutrients contaminants and additives
- Working independently and as a team member to apply quantitative approaches to complex technical and regulatory projects related to food safety nutrition and human health risk assessment
- Providing technical peer review supporting interdisciplinary teams on a wide range of nutrition and food safety-related topics
- Establishing a network of contacts for purposes of business development
You will have the following skills and qualifications
- Ph.D. or M.S. with a concentration in epidemiology biostatistics biochemistry nutrition food science or related sciences
- One to five years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous scientific reviews of epidemiological literature and present results effectively
- Ability to analyze nutrition and food-safety epidemiological data and provide interpretation
- Experience in statistical and regression tools in analyzing epidemiological data
- Publication record based on research in a relevant discipline
- Strategic thinker with strong quantitative skills (statistical analysis modeling)
- Strong computer skills specifically with Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint and statistical software programs (e.g. STATA SAS R Python)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments under rigid time constraints
- Ability to collaborate with diverse colleagues and participate effectively in team projects is essential

Compensation
Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponents total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Associate and Senior Associate level total compensation includes base salary bi-weekly bonuses for high-intensity efforts annual bonus and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
