Job Duties:

The Student Support Specialist helps support teachers and staff in student management through role play modeling instructional practices professional development and systems that prioritize students social emotional learning and academic success. The Specialist is a coach and a resource to provide behavior support through preventative and responsive interventions for K-8 students.

Primary job duties include conducting behavioral observations creating intervention plans and providing behavioral consultation to teachers. The Specialist responds to immediate behavioral situations and provides in-the-moment support to students and staff. They regularly attend school meetings and student support meetings manage and assign interventions for teachers or aides to support school teams and create behavior goals for students and the school based on data. The Specialist supports teachers with implementing PAX Zones of Regulation and Restorative Justice practices and designs and implements FBAs and BSPs. The Specialist collaborates and cooperates with other educational professionals to best serve students needs and school goals substitutes in any class as needed and performs other duties as Specialist reports to the Executive Director.



Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of Bachelors Degree or higher in Education from an accredited institution
  • A valid Oregon Teaching License Counseling or SpEd preferred
  • Experience and expertise in student behavior management collaborative problem solving staff development
  • The ability to provide leadership to staff in areas of behavior management and intervention
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to consult effectively with teachers administrators and parents in a variety of settings
  • The ability to support Special Education team in the development of IEPs and to follow IDEA and 504 procedures
  • The ability to effectively work and communicate with students parents and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds
  • The ability to maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students and staff
  • The ability to learn new technology program implemented by the school
  • Knowledgeable about social emotional curriculum such as PAX Zones and Restorative Justice.
  • Experience using trauma informed practices with students



Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct behavioral observations and Functional Behavioral Assessments for students in General Education and collaborate with Special Education department for students in SPED as needed
  • Assist and support building and staff and parents in the development implementation and revision of student behavior intervention plans
  • Behavioral intervention tracking and progress monitoring systems
  • Design and support implementation of behavioral Tier II interventions and Tier III interventions
  • Support student behavioral coaching for lagging skills
  • Collaborative partner in evaluating school wide behavior data trends
  • Attend counseling team meetings and student support meeting weekly



Working Conditions:

  • Collaborate regularly with counseling and leadership team

  • Supervise students whenever necessary
  • Overnight trips with student groups
  • Work with frequent interruptions
  • Follow City View policies work procedures and reasonable requests by proper authority
  • Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students and staff



Time Commitment

  • Averages 40 hours per week for a 10 month calendar.



Compensation Package

  • Based on (1.0 FTE) Salary Schedule starting at $46609 to $76697 based on education and years of experience.
  • Offering full benefits including medical dental and vision insurance and paid long term/short-term disability insurance. 10 Days Paid Time Off (PTO) and 8 paid holidays.
  • Required participation in Oregon PERS.
