Electrical Engineering Intern

Role description:

The primary focus of this role is to support senior electrical staff in the design of electrical power distribution motor control lighting communications and grid tied DER systems through calculations modeling and developing design plans. The successful candidate will learn typical engineering tasks related to the design and then perform these tasks on their own and review the results of the assignment with senior staff.

Role accountabilities:

• Assist in research analysis and reporting of solutions to client specific problems related to the water and wastewater industries and various other industrys electrical needs.
• Assist in common calculations related to electrical design including load calculations generator sizing voltage drop and fault current calculations
• Assist in modeling electrical systems lighting systems and solar photovoltaic systems.
• Assist in development of electrical design documents including single-line diagram AC and DC elementarydrawings motor control schematics and floor plans.
• Assist in developing cost estimates of designed systems in reviewing construction submittals and various other construction documents
• Coordinate and communicate with senior staff on assigned tasks to meet project deadlines.
• Travel to client sites to witness firsthand implementation of the designs developed.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelors degree in electrical engineering with two to three years of study

Preferred Qualifications

• 0-1 year of electrical engineering and design internship or work experience; US Power electric utility is a plus
• Basic understanding of distribution power design
• Proficient in Revit AutoCAD SKM ETAP Visual lighting software Elumtools
