About the Position Position: PICU RN Shift: Will work 3x12s Days 7A-730P holiday requirement if contract is during that period Weekend REQ: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule Is on-call REQ: N/A Ratios: 1:1 1:2 1:3 - mixed unit with ICU and Stepdown patients so ratios vary Will the clinician float within scope to meet facility needs Yes Required/Preferred Years of experience REQ: 2 years of PICU experience Accept 1st time travelers: yes Experience Preferred: ECMO CRRT License REQ: SC or Multi State/Compact RN license Certs REQ: BLS PALS (MUSC only accepts American Heart Association (AHA)) Miscellaneous Open to accommodating block schedule Requires managers approval upon request. Dependent on units needs. Local radius: 60 miles Locals accepted: yes on a case-by-case basis at 10% less than the posted bill rate. RTO Restrictions: all RTO must be submitted at time of submission. Approval based off unit needs Guaranteed Hours: Facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks UNIT DETAILS: The Pediatric Intensive Care unit is a 28-bed unit providing intensive and intermediate care to children ages 0-18 from across the state of South Carolina. The unit cares for patients with a blend of medical and surgical diagnoses. Common diagnoses include but are not limited to respiratory compromise trauma post-operative surgical patients requiring immediate intensive care support and neurology/ addition to ventilatory and cardiac support the unit provides ECMO/CRRT renal or peritoneal dialysis and additional complex supportive therapies . Pediatric Palliative care is available as needed. The staffing mix includes Registered Nurses Patient Care Technicians and Unit Secretaries with therapeutic supportive services such as Respiratory Therapy Pediatric Dietitians and Pediatric Pharmacist available as needed. Hospital Highlights Type of Facility: Level I Trauma Center Teaching Facility Magnet Hospital Total Staffed Beds: 820 Charting: EPIC Parking Cost: Parking management office (located 91presidents street) to obtain parking permit. $20 registration fee for a hang tag which will allow use of the garage. No additional fees. Hang tag will not cover parking in any other locations. If parking outside of the 91 Street Parking Garage additional fees may be incurred. Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. If this is a problem please ensure travelers do not confirm a new or ext assignment during the season. Hurricane season runs from June through November each year. The peak months for hurricane activity are August and September.
