Job Description

Encompass Support Services Society is an accredited non-profit agency that provides a wide range of programs and support services in Langley and Aldergrove for over 25 years. The Opportunity
We are looking for a high energy and motivated Early Childhood Educator Assistant to join our 0-6 coordinator team. This position will provide support with the day-to-day operations of the LEC programs and will carry out responsibilities in a wide variety of areas. This position will also support in our 0-12 programs in Aldergrove and Langley areas.

The ideal candidate will have worked as Early Childhood Educator Assistant preferably in the not-for-profit sector for a minimum of one year. We are looking for a high energy can do person who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can handle changing priorities with ease and work well independently.

SALARY RANGE: Wage Grid 6 Step 2 - $24.54 hourly
BENEFITS: Not Eligible

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Assists senior staff in monitoring children in indoor and outdoor activities and during rest periods.
Assists in planning preparing and carrying out developmentally appropriate programs and activities.
Under close supervision conducts activities with children on an individual and group basis to promote the development of physical cognitive emotional and social skills.
Attends to childrens physical needs which may include diapering toileting eating and sleeping.
Maintains records reports problems or concerns to senior staff.
Keeps program facilities and equipment safe and clean reporting any repairs and concerns to senior staff.
Perform other related duties as required.


B. Qualifications:
1. Education and Knowledge
Grade 12 plus enrolment in Early Childhood Education Certificate program or completing work experience required for licensing.


2. Training and Experience
One (1) year equivalent of recent related education training and experience
Valid First Aid and CPR


3. Skills and Abilities
Ability to be flexible resourceful and possess good time management skills.
Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity including lifting and bending.
Demonstrated knowledge and application of trauma-informed and culturally safe principles of care;
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Acts pertinent regulations policy procedures and other statutory and certification requirements (such as the Mental Health Act; Adult Guardianship Act; Child Family and Community Service Act; and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act);
Effective listening and consensus building skills that promote communication and a cooperative approach to problem solving and decision making;
Ability to work effectively with others in a multicultural environment independently and as part of a team including understanding the frameworks of other disciplines;
Ability to maintain professional integrity boundaries and confidentiality;
Ability to make effective referrals in a collaborative manner reflecting in-depth knowledge of community resources and strong collaborative skills in working with other community partners;
Knowledge of systemic issues and risk factors facing underrepresented groups including 2SLGBTQIA and Indigenous youth and young adults;
Knowledge and respect of the diversity of the BC population;


4. Other Information
Must possess a valid BC class 5 Drivers license have a reliable vehicle business insurance and drivers abstract review. (mileage paid for work use)
Class 4 Drivers License an asset
Successful police information check including vulnerable sector check
