GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:


ResponsibleforteachingHot Glass I/IIcoursein spring semester.Thecandidatewillalsohaveaccesstotheglassstudio facilities (which include furnaces annealers fusing and casting kilns benches lathe lapidary wheels and beltsander)tocreatetheirpersonalwork(outsideofstudentlabtimes)

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide effective instruction in the Hot Glass course including creating the syllabus course schedule and ensuring that students meet required class outcomes.

  • Provide instructional support to students working in the glass studio spaces during scheduled student times.

  • This includes answering questions providing guidanceand ensuring safety requirements are adhered to.

  • Collaborate with the full-time glass faculty member on supporting student needsand with the 3D studio technician one equipment maintenance and safety measures

  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Be able and willing to represent the College in the most positive manner with prospective former and current students clients suppliers and the community we serve.
  • Ability to work efficiently with the full-time glass faculty member ceramics faculty and studio technicians.
  • Ability to instruct students in the art of glass- hot warm and cold working techniques.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Provide a positive and collaborative learning environment for students.
  • Welcome value and nurture people of all backgrounds perspectives and experiences as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:


Position involves working in a classroom setting. Occasional (10-33%) sitting pushing pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) standing walking repetitive motion talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MA or MFA in Glass or MA and MFA with 12 graduate credits in glass.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSLICENSES CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Experience in an education setting is preferred
  • Experience in implementing and ensuring safety standards are met.
