Job Summary

Overview

We are seeking our new QA Automation Engineer to join the Axway team!

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Team Lead you will serve as theQuality and Testing SMEfor a high-performance platform engineering team focused on API management and integration technologies.

Quality Leadership & Strategy

Define and drive thetest strategyaligned with platform architecture and integration patterns.
Championquality engineering best practices ensuring efficient and effective testing across all layers of the stack.
Mentor and coach engineers on testing techniques automation and performance validation.
Establish and trackquality KPIs and metricsto continuously improve test coverage reliability and release confidence.
Ensure adherence to quality processes and standards and proactively evolve them based on team and customer feedback.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with internal teams (engineering DevOps product) and external stakeholders (support professional services customer success) to elevate product quality and customer experience.
Act as a liaison between engineering and customer-facing teams to translate feedback into actionable quality improvements.

Test Design & Automation

Lead the design and implementation ofautomated and manual testsacross API layers data stores and service mesh components (e.g. Envoy).
Apply thetest automation pyramideffectively ensuring robust unit integration and end-to-end test coverage.
Build and maintain scalable test frameworks and CI/CD integrations tailored to a microservices and Kubernetes-based architecture.

Risk & Performance Management

Identify and escalatequality risks gaps and inefficiencies in the testing lifecycle.
Driveperformance testinginitiatives for APIs data pipelines and distributed services using tools like JMeter Gatling or k6.
Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize and implement quality improvement initiatives in a timely and measurable way.

Platform Expertise

Develop deep technical knowledge of the platforms components including Java services Envoy proxies Valkey caching MongoDB/Postgres databases and Kubernetes orchestration.
Influence engineering teams to raise the bar on quality deliverables ensuring resilient and scalable integrations.

Qualifications

5 years of experiencein software quality engineering or SDET roles with a strong focus on backend systems APIs and distributed platforms.
Proven expertise indesigning and implementing automated test frameworksfor microservices and API-driven architectures.
Strong programming skills inJava(or equivalent languages like Python or Go) for test automation and tooling.
Deep understanding ofAPI testing(REST gRPC) including contract testing schema validation and mocking strategies.
Familiarity withValkey (or Redis)MongoDB andPostgreSQL including how to validate data consistency and performance across these systems.
Hands-on experience withKubernetes including testing in containerized and orchestrated environments.
Strong knowledge of thetest automation pyramidand experience applying it effectively in large-scale systems.
Experience withperformance and load testing tools(e.g. JMeter Gatling k6) and interpreting results to guide optimization.
Excellent analytical and debugging skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and advocate for quality.
Experience working inAgile/Scrumenvironments and contributing to continuous improvement in testing practices.
