Job Summary:
As a Senior Youth Worker (facility based) you will provide support basic needs and encouragement to youth ages birth - 17 years of age and youth ages 16-24 experiencing homelessness. You will provide coverage to shelter/Transitional Living Program Thursdays-Sundays from 3pm - 11pm and/or 11pm - 7am each week. Youth Workers will provide a consistent safe and supportive milieu for each individual within an environment where the population served may present with a high level of need. The population served may change quickly and within a single this role you will develop positive relationships with youth to help them identify immediate needs and/or plan next steps towards stability and how to advance towards those steps. You will also respond to crisis and emergent needs of youth seeking shelter.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Some experience working with youth preferred but not required.
- Experience with homeless at-risk youth or children or youth who have been removed from their homes.
- Effective working knowledge of positive youth development harm reduction and trauma-informed care preferred.
- Training and competency may will be provided in the following areas (requirements based on program and licensing standards):
- Blood borne pathogens.
- Child safety restraints.
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI).
- Mandated reporting.
- CPR & first aid for infants children and adults.
- SUIDS and prevention of head trauma.
- Runaway prevention.
- Emergency policies and procedures.
- Gender-based needs.
- LGBTQ needs and resources.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must be able to pass a DHS level background check.
- Must be able to pass a drivers eligibility check.
- Must work evenings overnights and weekends.
