Job Description

Job Description:

Want to join the ATR adventure An internship opportunity has just opened on our site in Toulouse-Blagnac !

In 2025 ATR has been awarded the Happy Trainees label. 92.8% of students recommend our company after their work-study or internship.

What we will do together:

Being an apprentice at ATR means being integrated into a team as a full member with a real scope of intervention and responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills and experience within a market leading company!

Detailed description of the mission:

Flight recording data typically contains high-precision flight path data as well as an indication of the active navigation modes.

In this regard it is well known that an increasingly significant proportion of flights are conducted in lateral and vertical guidance mode (LNNAV/VNAV) dependent on the flight plan entered in the flight management system (FMS).

Unfortunately a detailed description of this flight plan is not included in the recordings and is rarely communicated during flight analysis.

This training therefore aims to infer the most probable flight plan from the flight path data.

To this end in addition to recorded flight data the avionics design office team has access to global navigation databases (NavDB) that precisely describe all takeoff en-route and approach procedures published by government navigation services and embedded in the flight management system.

The goal of the internship is to develop a tool that allows for the reconstruction of the sequencing of these various procedures as consistently as possible with the flight data (minimization of lateral and vertical deviations (XTK/VDEV) consistency with the guidance modes engaged etc.). The underlying algorithm must be robust to the fact that some airports have numerous takeoff and approach procedures that these procedures may share different waypoints and legs and that some waypoints may have various altitude and/or speed constraints.

While desirable but not essential it might also be interesting to offer the ability to visualize the comparison of this reconstructed flight plan with the recorded trajectory (for example via a .kml file that can be imported into Google Earth Pro).

This internship is designed for you

  • Student in aeronautics and/or computer science with a strong interest in the aeronautics field
  • BAC3 or higher
  • Coding (R and/or Python and/or Javascript and/or Rust) algorithms (e.g. minimisation by constraint directed graph traversal etc)
  • Aeronautical knowledge

Calendar

  • Starting date: from January 2026
  • Duration: 3 to 6 months
