Your location
At our Donauwörth site located on the banks of the river Danube we develop helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield.

Your tasks & responsibilities
You will lead the development of our comprehensive simulation technology for LifeSaver a strategic initiative aimed at empowering governments worldwide to significantly enhance their emergency response systems (ground and air). As we ramp up LifeSaver you will collaborate with an external software development company to kickstart our simulation solution and at the same time help to establish a robust technical infrastructure for a dedicated internal development team. This role involves:
Building a first-class simulation environment for an upcoming digital twin of the complex and multi-modal (air and ground) operations of emergency response systems at the scale of a whole country or region. This includes setting up the technical infrastructure the selection of one or several suitable frameworks prototyping and seamless integration with LifeSavers overall solution architecture.
Developing agent-based simulations for a broad range of scenarios such as optimizing the use of (future) aircraft in different environments or developing strategies for providing effective disaster relief after a natural disaster.
Working closely with external stakeholders such as emergency response professionals to develop a solid understanding of real-world emergency medical operations and inform the creation of accurate simulations.
Coordinating an external software development team (based in Europe) in close coordination with the LifeSaver product manager and the external team lead.
Potentially coordinating remote software development teams and technical subject matter experts at other Airbus locations worldwide.
Contributing to R&D and innovation programmes.
You offer
Technical Skills
Master degree in computer science or a similar field.
At least 5 years of practical experience with agent-based simulation traffic and network modeling and simulation frameworks (e.g. Matsim DLR Sumo).
Solid experience in defining software architecture and selecting technology stacks frameworks and tools to meet both functional and non-functional requirements (like scalability security performance and maintainability).
Very good knowledge of Java or Python; additional experience with C# (.net) Go or Elixir a plus.
Experience with SQL Docker Git Shell scripting and Jupyter notebooks.
Experience with high performance 2D/3D front-end visualisation frameworks (such as or other) are a plus.
Good knowledge of Postgis (spatial database) GIS (geographic information systems) and interest in mapping technologies.
Soft Skills
A genuine interest in developing technology for good that can improve access to essential medical services to many people around the world.
Fast learner ability to analyse complex problems devise effective solutions and willing to tackle a big challenge.

Ihre Aufgaben & Verantwortlichkeiten
Wir suchen eine/n Simulation Specialist für die Entwicklung einer Simulation von Rettungsdiensten im Rahmen von LifeSaver. LifeSaver ist ein strategisches Innovations-Programm von Airbus das Regierungen weltweit darin unterstützt ihre Rettungsdienste (Boden und Luft) zu verbessern. Um die Entwicklung unserer Simulationsumgebung zu beschleunigen werden wir in der Entwicklungsphase von LifeSaver auch mit externen Softwareentwicklern zusammenarbeiten während wir eine robuste technische Infrastruktur für ein internes Entwicklungsteam aufbauen.
Ihre Aufgaben
Aufbau einer erstklassigen Simulationsumgebung für einen zukünftigen Digital Twin um komplexe und multimodale Rettungseinsätze (Luft und Boden) eines ganzen Landes oder einer Region abzubilden. Dazu gehören der Aufbau der technischen Infrastruktur die Auswahl eines oder mehrerer geeigneter technischer Frameworks das Prototyping der Lösung und die nahtlose Integration in die Gesamtlösung von LifeSaver.
Entwicklung agentenbasierter Simulationen für ein breites Spektrum an Szenarien beispielsweise für die Optimierung des Einsatzes (zukünftiger) Fluggeräte in unterschiedlichen Umgebungen oder die Entwicklung von Strategien zur Bereitstellung effektiver Katastrophenhilfe.
Enge Zusammenarbeit mit externen Stakeholdern und Experten um ein solides Verständnis für Notfallrettung und Katastrophenschutz als Basis der Simulationen zu entwickeln.
Koordinierung eines externen SW- Entwicklungsteams (mit Sitz in Europa) in enger Abstimmung mit dem LifeSaver-Produktmanager und dem Leiter des externen Teams.
Möglicherweise Koordination von SW-Entwicklern und technischen Fachexperten an anderen Airbus-Standorten weltweit.
Beitrag zu F&E- und Innovationsprogrammen.
Sie bieten
Technische Fähigkeiten
Master in Informatik oder einem ähnlichen Bereich.
Mindestens 5 Jahre praktische Erfahrung mit agentenbasierter Simulation Verkehrs- und Netzwerkmodellierung und Simulations-Frameworks (z. B. Matsim DLR Sumo).
