Controls Engineer

HOJ Innovations is seeking a passionate detail-oriented Controls Engineer. The Controls Engineer assists in the design and development of control systems for industrial material handling solutions. This position understands equipment business and customer requirements that drive the design of the technical solutions. As a Controls Engineer you will participate in all phases of the product development lifecycle including the analysis development of specifications device layout drawings control schematics PLC logic and installation support. Additionally you will be supporting installed systems with both scheduled and emergency service support. You will collaborate with a team of engineers and system technicians to resolve complex site requirement changes offer support solutions to complete the designed equipment installation and help HOJ Innovations deliver exceptional customer value.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and Test PLC and HMI programs
• Troubleshoot electrical issues including but not limited to PLCs various motion controls multi-axis servos SCADA systems AC/DC drives electronics PLC to PC interface systems pneumatics and photoelectric/laser control devices
• Debug electrical installation of controls and motor components of somewhat difficult complexity.
• Perform on-site commissioning to implement and validate system design
• Seek timely solutions to resolve unexpected problems and make significant contribution with little direction
• Support existing install base with both scheduled maintenance review and emergency service to trouble shoot and offer support to fix controls errors or failures.
• Prepare schematics and specifications for control panel fabrication
• Support electrical installation by interfacing with electrical installers
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Electrical Engineering Technology Software Engineering or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 3 years of programming experience
• Ability to balance multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail; work with minimum supervision
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Team-oriented and collaborative
• Experience with Beckhoff IPCs and programming
• Experience with Ignition by Inductive Automation
• Experience with communication protocols (TCP/IP REST etc.) a plus
• Willingness to learn and implement new technologies
• Creative-thinking and problem-solving skills
• Proficient with AutoCAD
• Valid drivers license and clean driving record required
