Core Services Designer

Xplore is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Core Services Designer with experience in Ericsson Cloud 4G/5G Core Network Services with knowledge of Kubernetes architecture components and concepts. The Core Services Designer will be responsible for designing implementing and maintaining Xplores 4G/5G Core network services based in a containerized cloud environment. The ideal candidate will bring in-depth knowledge of Ericssons 4G/5G Cloud Core solutions coupled with hands-on experience in deploying and managing Cloud Native Infrastructure clusters within a telecom environment. This role requires a deep understanding of authentication compute storage security best practices for containers and underlying infrastructure automation and scripting networking and service discovery orchestration and management of containerized applications within the telecom environment among other technical skills applicable to other highly virtualized environments. The position also requires a strong knowledge on physical and virtual server systems. Leveraging a systematic engineering-based approach this individual will show strong tendencies towards properly quantifying technical assumptions and will look to properly validate solutions before recommending production changes.

This position reports to the Senior Manager of Core Network Services.

Key responsibilities include:

Design deploy and maintain Ericsson Cloud infrastructure to support 4G/5G Core Network functions.
Translate 4G/5G product requirements into end to end technical solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of Ericsson Cloud solutions.
Lead the deployment and configuration of cloud-based systems ensuring alignment with 4G/5G Core network requirements.
Identify and design optimizations to enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of the 4G/5G Core network requirements.
Provide Kubernetes clusters optimization recommendations to meet performance scalability and reliability requirements.
Plan and execute projects related to the expansion and growth of the infrastructure environment.
Responsible for documenting requirements validate vendor configurations based on requirements and supervise proper vendor implementation.
Knowledge of virtualization technologies (NFV SDN) and cloud-native deployments (Kubernetes Docker RedHat OpenShift).
Coordinate upgrades migrations and new deployments.
Staying updated on the latest software features and best practices.
Provide advanced troubleshooting support for cloud releases and virtual environments.
In depth knowledge of typical Service Provider Ethernet service offerings
In depth knowledge of switching technologies such as VLANs and Spanning Tree
Knowledge of IP routing technologies such as BGP and OSPF
Knowledge of IP/Ethernet Quality of service features such as classification marking queuing and shaping.
Knowledge of networking equipment from vendors such cisco ciena juniper advance knowledge of Metro Ethernet forum standards
Knowledge of MPLS/SR and MPLs L2/l3 VPNs
Knowledge of Fiber networks (BNGs OLTs)
Participate in incident response activities and contribute to root cause analysis.
Ensure the technical engineering integrity and security of Xplores systems network and interface; establishing and maintaining Standard Best Practices documentation and equipment configurations.
Test Implement configure monitor secure troubleshoot upgrade and maintain the Xplores server environment consisting of physical and virtual servers in multiple datacenters
Perform and participate in regular system health capacity and security audits of compute environment and formulate and execute plans based on findings
Work closely with the IP network systems designers and vendor to deliver new technology solutions and/or validating proof of concept.
Provide technical solutions to internal teams for design review and implementation. Create Engineering Work Order documentation for Network Operations to implement.
Knowledge of Radio Transport Signaling and Infrastructure product design development and testing.
Programming experience in Python Ansible or API integration
Document all changes conversions upgrades expansions and deployments.
Support the Network Operations team in resolving any 4G/5G Core and systems issues when escalated.

The ideal candidate will possess:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Telecommunications or related field.
Proven experience working with Ericsson Cloud infrastructure and 4G/5G Core networks.
5-7 years related work experience designing Core 4G/5G solutions in a cloud environment; as well as systems design and administration (minimum of 5 years Linux experience mandatory)
Python software development experience.
Technical understanding of key telco technologies like CPU Pinning NUMA (Non-Uniform Memory Access SRIOV (Single Root I/O virtualization) DPDK (Data Plane Development Kit) among others
Working knowledge of Mobile Packet Core Radio VAS OSS/BSS
Understanding of best practices for open source technology in telco virtualization
Working knowledge of Linux Openstack and Kubernetes networking
Advanced knowledge (including maintenance & troubleshooting) of Linux and Windows based systems
Advanced knowledge of Internet Protocols (i.e. DNS SMTP NTP SNMP etc.)
Working knowledge of VMWare and experience in database design
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve issues in a Kubernetes and systems environment.
Ability to plan and execute projects related to the expansion and growth of the Core network infrastructure and its supporting systems.
Thorough documentation skills for configurations procedures and troubleshooting guides and new deployments.
Good knowledge of Network Routing and Switching Protocols (i.e. BGP OSPF TCP/IP etc.)
Excellent documentation and communication skills; both verbal and written
