JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic strategic and results-drivenprofessional to join our team in the role of
Truck Driver Radioactive Material Transport.

The Truck Driver will be responsible for the transport of dangerous goods and non-dangerous goods between nuclear generating facilities and/or private industrial facilities. Any training program is associated with position including the expectation of successfully passing courses and training before performing the responsibilities and duties of the job.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Safely and competently operate heavy duty vehicles to transport dangerous goods and equipment in compliance with the pertinent regulations and procedures.
  • Perform tasks associated with the provision of a carrier (road transportation) service. Applies load securement devices and coverings in accordance with the applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Perform trip inspections on assigned vehicles in compliance with the applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain an accurate detailed and legible driver duty log to ensure regulatory compliance with the Highway Traffic Act and other applicable legislation.
  • Complete and maintain all other required trip documentation.
  • Perform the carrier response functions in the event of a transportation emergency in accordance with the applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Direct other personnel assigned to assist with loading/unloading duties. This may include employees of companies external to OPG. Perform maintenance activities not requiring formal trades training & qualifications.
  • Perform duties normally associated with civil maintenance trades up to the level trained as required.
  • Accountable for the health safety and well being of self and others in accordance with technical/ operating procedures and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must hold a High School diploma as the minimum educational requirement
  • Must hold a valid and active AZ Drivers License in good standing
  • Must have a clear drivers abstract
  • 5 years minimum concurrent experience driving a transport truck
  • 3 years experience in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
  • Preference given to individuals with Fork Lift experience
  • Ability to work from heights (climbing ladders scaffolding stairs)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision or within a team environment
  • Proficient skills with desktop and onboard computers trip recorders onboard GPS and telecommunications equipment.
  • Flexibility to work shifts if required
  • Flexibility to stay over night when required
  • Flexibility for overtime work

The base salary range considers many factors including but not limited to experience education and training including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
