Job Description

The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Store Manager Operations in the Design Store who upholds MoMAs standards and adheres to and applies Museum and Retail policies and procedures; keeps current on whats happening at MoMA to support a positive visitor experience. Assists the Store Manager and fellow Assistant Store Managers with all aspects of running the store including but not limited to opening and closing the store; ensuring proper safeguarding of MoMAs staff visitors and assets; attending and contributing to retail management meetings and participating in store partnership initiatives. Exhibits and upholds the highest customer service standards which will play an integral role in achieving the stores sales and metric goals. Manages develops and trains all store staff and ensures a professional and positive presence on the sales floor by all staff and the delivery of a knowledgeable thoughtful and inspiring customer service experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages organizes and maximizes use of stock space.
  • Leads the effort to maximize store inventory flow.
  • Communicates with the distribution center to ensure accuracy of deliveries.
  • Processes all transfers and receiving.
  • Trains and develops the stock team.
  • Initiates all mini inventories annual physical inventories and makes recommendations to improve results and reduce loss.
  • Oversees min/max numbers to ensure optimal inventory replenishment levels based on visual presentation and sales.
  • Reviews researches and approves all inventory adjustments.
  • Serves as Operational leader for all omni-channel retail initiatives specifically BOPIS and BOSHIP. Drives strategic planning and operational excellence in line with Year over year trend in both areas.
  • Serves as point person on all maintenance matters such as housekeeping HVAC lighting fire water etc.
  • Serves as point person for all security loss prevention life and safety matters in partnership with MoMA and 3rd party Security.
  • Orders and maintains inventory of supplies.
  • Serves as point person on all POS and IT matters.
  • Visits the Museum regularly.
  • Attends product vendor and customer service training.
  • Participates in advanced education opportunities as offered.
  • Attends staff meetings and participates in cross-store operational projects and periodically works management shifts at the other Stores.
  • Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above including unpacking daily store shipments during peak season or when stock associates are on PTO or off the schedule.

Requirements:

  • Minimum three to five years in retail.
  • Two years in stock/operations management.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Organized and detail oriented with superb time management skills.
  • Proactive selfstarter who exhibits initiative and leadership. POS Word and Excel. Order Entry.

Salary: The salary range for this position is $60000 - $65000.
