JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Mechanical Technician.

Reporting to the Supervisor Facility Services this position is responsible to maintain install test and troubleshoot mechanical equipment and systems.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Install commission inspect troubleshoot service maintain and overhaul all mechanical equipment and components in generating stations and facilities.
  • Operate and maintain precision machines test equipment and shop tools including the fabrication of components using specialized tooling.
  • Perform equipment noise balancing and vibration measurements for maintenance and testing of stationary and rotating equipment.
  • Fabricate assemble and repair metal components including performing advanced welding tasks.
  • Provide technical support coordination and assistance for projects daily routines and the development of technical solutions.
  • Plan generate and review reports work instructions maintenance histories and assist in the development of procedures and new tooling.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma plus a Certificate of Qualifications 313A.
  • At least 4 years of working experience as a Mechanical Technician.
  • Experience working with industrial and electrical generating utility equipment and systems.
  • Proficiency in mechanical composite trades including welding pipefitting rigging machining and millwrighting.
  • Ability to use precision alignment tools such as dial indicators and laser alignment devices.
  • Strong commitment to health safety and adherence to technical and operating procedures.
  • A valid drivers license is required.
  • Ozone Depletion Card would be an asset.

The base salary range considers many factors including but not limited to experience education and training including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
