Summary

The technical writer position consists of developing and coordinating documentation for the implementation of technical and operational improvements for management and the customer. Responsibilities include researching planning designing writing formatting editing validating and preparing for distribution a wide variety of technical documents including manuals procedures quick reference guides checklists and forms used in support of mechanical electrical/electronic technical and engineering activities. Candidate will work on teams to accomplish projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist management in client-related technical and administrative matters.
  • Research engineering design specifications interview subject matter experts and examine equipment as well as coordinate documentation effort from initial concept to final product.
  • Create documentation from research. Develop detailed information by working with operators technicians engineers and others as needed to support document creation.
  • Identify and resolve documentation issues related to procedures concepts organization presentation and usability; propose solutions to stakeholders.
  • Create and revise documents to be consistent with established customer-directed document format and quality style guides.
  • Ensure consistency in presentation tone and style. Verify documents are complete concise clear and that appropriate grammar and format is used.
  • Work independently with relevant customers to develop documented procedures with minimal manager supervision.
  • Evaluate customer technical and operational objectives and programs.
  • Negotiate with stakeholders to create and meet recommended project timelines.
  • Actively participate on project teams to include recommending and implementing changes to the procedure development manual.
  • Completes other tasks and duties such as customer meeting support based off the needs of the business.

You Must Have

  • Bachelors degree in English Communications Journalism or appropriate technical discipline or 2 additional years of direct work experience in a technical writing position.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
  • Ability to work remote hybrid or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain if required for position a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).

We Value

  • Exceptional attention to detail writing editing formatting and proofreading skills.
  • Three or more years of experience using Microsoft Word.
  • 1years of experience using Adobe Acrobat.
  • At least one year of experience in technical documentation.
  • Competent computer skills and experience in authoring documents to include some multimedia enhancement.
  • Experience conducting content interviews for document development.
  • Prefer experience interacting with Government agencies.
  • Provide writing sample upon interview.
