Primary Purpose
Provide students with instruction and hands-on training in pipefitting systems. Prepare students for success in workforce careers and industry-based certifications aligned to construction industrial maintenance and skilled trades pathways.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
High school diploma/GED with approved industry experience.
Must meet district requirements for DOI (District of Innovation) certification eligibility.
Preferred: NCCER Craft Instructor Certification; Texas Journeyman or Master Plumber license; or equivalent industry credential.
Experience
Minimum of 35 years of recent full-time wage-earning experience in pipefitting plumbing or industrial piping.
Knowledge of key pipefitting processes including layout cutting threading bending assembly and maintenance of piping systems.
Experience with safety protocols industrial tools and NCCER-aligned curriculum strongly preferred.
Major Responsibilities & Duties
Teach and demonstrate pipefitting skills including layout measurement threading cutting and assembly of industrial piping systems.
Incorporate hands-on labs projects and safety practices consistent with industry standards.
Prepare students for NCCER and/or other industry-based certification exams.
Maintain an organized lab/shop environment and ensure compliance with OSHA/TEA safety requirements.
Collaborate with CTE staff industry partners and postsecondary institutions to strengthen program alignment.
Manage classroom behavior and foster a safe respectful and engaging learning environment.
Participate in professional development and maintain required industry/teaching credentials.
Working Conditions
Daily interaction in classroom lab and shop environments.
Moderate to heavy physical activity including lifting equipment and materials.
Frequent communication with students parents and industry stakeholders.
