The Ann Arboroffice of SmithGroupis looking for aCivil Engineering Internto join our team.
Working with us you will:
- Work on integrated design teams with landscape architecture urban planning and surveying.
- Develop site design drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Perform preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Compile data and prepare design solutions.
- Assist in editing technical specifications.
- Participate in design meetings.
- Receive mentorship from experienced engineers.
- Visit a construction site(s) and/or completed project sites.
An ideal candidate has:
- Completed at least their sophomore year or have graduate standing in an accredited civil engineering program by the time of the internship.
- Some experience with AutoCAD Civil3D ArcGIS and the Microsoft Office Suite.

SmithGroup promotes a healthy work/life balance for our staff as well as hybrid work options that give interns the flexibility to work within our vibrant office culture or remotely as needed. The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $24.00 to $25.00 per hour at the time of posting. You are eligible to receive overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 in a work week. Our 12-week summer internships are held between May-August. We encourage you to apply early as our internship positions tend to fill quickly. Consideration will be given if a candidate wishes to complete the internship at one of SmithGroups six other Midwest locations.
