Job Description

Role: The Credential Program Specialist supports credentialing and clinical practice processes for all School of Education California credential programs. This role manages documentation verifies requirements maintains compliance with the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and coordinates credential file preparation authorization and clinical practice documentation while also providing administrative support to the department as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily:

Assistant Credential Analyst

  • Authorized by the California Commission on Teaching Credentialing (CTC) to issue credentials on behalf of the university. As a designee must stay current with state credentialing regulations and procedures and pending credentialing issues and legislation.
  • Create digital credential file for all new students in PPSC PPSP Admin Teacher Credential and Induction programs in compliance with CTC guidelines.
  • Audit and record fieldwork placement information to verify benchmarks meet CTC standards.
  • Maintain records of subject matter competency and basic skills competency.
  • Administer required surveys for accreditation purposes and tally results for program review.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Induction to collect and document mentor teacher placement verification.
  • Process mileage reimbursements for University Supervisors of student teachers.
  • Process payment for Cooperating Teachers and Induction District Appointed Mentors
  • Coordinate documentation for student teacher clearance process.
  • Coordinate ordering and distribution of PPSP assessment kits for PPSP students
  • Assist with filing credential applications to CTC on behalf of students in the School of Education.

Undergraduate Program Support

  • Maintain and update student records in the program database.
  • Track student progress toward program acceptance and ensure compliance with admission requirements.
  • Facilitate communication with students regarding program milestones and necessary documentation.
  • Update program status track student progression and coordinate registration eligibility.
  • Assist with faculty interviews and acceptance processes.
  • Issue SOE acceptance notifications and required verification letters.
  • Support the transition process for undergraduate students moving through the program.

Student Success and Advising Support

  • Communicate with students regarding program requirements academic goals and progression toward credential completion.
  • Develop and implement training seminars including but not limited to: academic success writing support campus resources career development time management organization study skills etc.
  • Provide coaching on professional skill development and career planning in alignment with students academic/professional goals.
  • Collaborate with academic advisors to monitor student progress and connect students with appropriate resources.
  • Encourage persistence and retention by offering individualized support goal setting and accountability.

Departmental Support

  • Manage the departmental email account
  • Maintain and coordinate textbook orders and faculty resources.
  • Maintain office supplies and schedule necessary maintenance for equipment.
  • Provide general clerical support as directed by leadership.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Occasionally direct student employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the universitys policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training student employees; and planning assigning and directing work.

Education and/or Experience:

A bachelors degree from a four-year college or university is preferred or three to four years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Full Time Staff Non-Exempt

$23.50 - 25.64/hr
