Duties (Face-to-face Lecturer):
100% Based on department need teach course in designated area:
Duties (Online Lecturer):
100% Online Lecturer for the mini-mester
Duties (Online Course Developer):
100% Build an online course for the unit and/or the College Online Programs.

Position Overview
The History of Art Department invites qualified scholars and professionals to apply for part- to full-time lecturer and online lecturer positions for the instruction of face-to-face courses or development and/or instruction of online courses. All lecturers are untenured non-tenure-track members of the faculty. Appointments are typically short in duration over a defined time period associated with the development and/or instruction of course(s). The appointment dates will vary based on the timeframe for the preparation and instruction of the course(s). Generally the appointments will be temporary. Application materials will be reviewed and placed in a pool for consideration as needed.
Additional Candidate Instruction
A complete application will include a letter of application a c.v. detailing specific subject areas the applicant is qualified to teach and/or develop and the names and contact information for three professional references. Applicants should specify an interest in either in-person or online instruction or online course development.
100% Based on department need teach course in designated area:
- Prepare for and attend all class case of absence the lecturer must make arrangements for a substitute to teach class. Classes should not be canceled.
- Provide instruction throughout the semester usually 2.5 hours/week.
- Develop assignments administer tests evaluate student work provide feedback to students and assign grades.
- Supervise GTAs if necessary.
- Hold regular office hours for students involved in classes taught.
- Adhere to departmental college and university policies.
Duties (Online Lecturer):
100% Online Lecturer for the mini-mester
- Teach a specified number of online courses per semester or mini-mester.
- Prepare for and attend all class meetings. Provide timely feedback and instructor/student interaction in asynchronous online course format with occasions for online office hours and/or Q&A sessions. Regular weekly interaction is expected in online courses.
- Provide instruction for course(s). Classes are generally in an 8-week or mini-mester format. Class meetings will generally be asynchronous but instructional expectations match those of the face-to-face experience.
- Administer assignments tests evaluate student work provide timely feedback to students and assign grades.
- Be available for students involved in classes taught. Office hours may include a set time where students can contact the instructor but must also include expectations for timely responses to student inquiries outside of a set contact time.
- Adhere to departmental college and university policies.
Duties (Online Course Developer):
100% Build an online course for the unit and/or the College Online Programs.
- Design the course in accordance with departmental guidance and KU standards which include working with instructional design staff in the Center for Online and Distance Learning.
- Work in a collaborative environment utilizing the expertise of the other major instructors in the (program/unit/center).
- Complete the course design process within a specific deadline to ensure the course is fully designed and quality reviewed prior to the date the course is to be offered as determined by the academic department.

Undergraduate level courses:
- Masters degree in History of Art
- Demonstrated knowledge of the History of Art course of interest.
- Previous teaching experience (classroom or online) at the university/college level.
- Ph.D. in History of Art or a related field and evidence of research productivity in the field of specialization is required for appointment to teach a course carrying graduate credit.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or ABD in History of Art or a related field.
