This position is responsible for safely producing and finishing solid and veneered wood products using advanced machinery hand tools and sanding equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Observe all safety precautions and plant regulations to prevent injury to self and others or damage to material or equipment.

Participate in plant safety processes and programs

Operate machinery or stations as instructed by the Team Leader to meet scheduled demands to include but not limited to custom orders inventory product samples and product development prototypes

Assemble materials and package finished products for transport to customers

Ensure that the standards for quality output safety etc. are adhered to and improved upon.

Keep accurate records of production waste/scrap and quality checks undertaken.

Ensure high attention to detail accuracy and quality of work.

Properly maintain equipment and a clean and organized work environment.

Maintain a high level of customer focus in producing quality products and services that do not sacrifice the safety of others oneself nor the environment

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required Qualifications

Dependable punctual good attendance.

Able to take measurements read tape measures calipers micrometers and input into HMI to make adjustments to program. Able to make calculations using decimals and/or fractions.

Able to operate power tools such as hand drills nail guns circular or miter saws jigsaws etc.

Must be able to work overtime when needed

Must be able to read Safety Data Sheets (SDS) sheets and follow basic work instructions

Good interpersonal organizational and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Prior manufacturing assembly or machine operator experience preferred

Woodworking experience strongly preferred.

Ability to read blueprints or manufacturing drawings preferred.

1-3 years of past manufacturing experience preferred.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of GED or High School diploma.

Certificates Licenses Registrations

Prefer: Familiar with WorkSafeBCs guidelines and training resources.

Other Skills and Abilities

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Plant Environment This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to occasional hot/cold temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords tools and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty or dirty conditions. Required PPE at this time: safety glasses hearing protection steel toe shoes and other department PPE. Other PPE available upon request.

This position is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines. PPE as required.
