JOB TITLE: Social Emotional Counseling Advisor
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
- School SEC to work in the areas of advocacy accommodations crisis management/social emotional support and community based resourcing. SEC will provide individual counseling crisis intervention group counseling for specific/targeted populations and professional development/classroom intervention related to mental health and wellness student safety behavior management and peer relationships; collaborate with faculty on school attendance monitoring peer mediation crisis intervention and community agency referrals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advocate for policies that promote wellness of students faculty and staff; particularly those who are under-represented.
- Plan coordinate manage and implement intervention and support to help students deal with difficulties and overcome obstacles to learning and social development in individual and group settings as well as the classroom
- Utilize crisis assessments to determine physical and emotional safety create risk and safety plans and make referrals to community resources to maintain student wellness.
- Interview and evaluate service users and assess their current condition needs strengths and weaknesses; collaborating with the student and others to create collaborative and comprehensive plans through principles of Trauma Informed Care.
- Work with students to set tailored measurable goals and develop skills and strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate clients progress and modify treatment plans accordingly
- Offer information and counseling on the best course of action during sessions
- Maintain accurate records and report on clients status
- Attend case conferences and provide evidence in court
- Act as a key worker and cooperate with multidisciplinary teams
- Refer clients to community services to help them in recovery
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Cerification in the area
- Must pass background check
