JOB OPPORTUNITY: Assistant Manager Directions Youth Safehouse

About Our Opportunity:
Working within the mission vision values and person-centered philosophy of the Agency the Assistant Manager supervises Directions Youth Safehouse program staff including selection performance management discipline and dismissal. The role supervises case management: plans develops implements and oversees client engagement strategies and the creation of individual service plans for youth. The Assistant Manager is also part of a 24/7 call rotation when required. With the support of the program management the Assistant Manager plans develops implements and oversees the ongoing day-to-day operation of the program. It actively supports the Agencys awareness and goals around diversity and inclusion.

Salary: Grade MGP2 Step 1 ($74646.00-$82738.50 annually)

What do you need to succeed
Education Training Experience
  • Bachelors degree in social work youth care or related field
  • Five (5) years experience working with homeless and/or at risk youth plus three (3) years managing and leading team members
  • Or an equivalent combination of education training and experience
Knowledge Skills Abilities
  • Awareness of community services resources and systems and ability to work with these; competence in working with a multi-cultural community
  • A committed ability to keep informed about evolving trends and practices share knowledge and support staffto integrate innovation into the delivery of quality care/services
  • Strong ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop manage and evaluate clinical programs considering client needs service delivery interrelationships and service potential within a complex environment
  • Ability to understand available resources for program and keep quality in the forefront of all resource utilization decisions; providing feedback and detailed analysis on budget variances and making recommendations for corrective action
  • Ability to develop and maintain a strong and supportive team environment
  • Thorough knowledge of adolescent development at-risk youth and the child welfare system
  • Thorough knowledge of harm reduction and trauma informed care practices
  • Solid working knowledge of addictions and mental health
  • Collaborative case management and strong advocacy skills
Additional Requirements
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check
  • Current First Aid Food Safe Level 1 and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificates are an asset

Directions Youth Services is a division of Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV) which for more than 90 years has provided a variety of essential resources for children families and individuals in the Greater Vancouver community. We believe in the resiliency of Vancouvers youth who are at-risk homeless and street-involved. We assist youth under the age of 25 to get counselling for trauma mental health or substance issues. Our teams strive to create spaces and build connections with youth who are facing challenges of street life substance use mental health concerns and disconnection from their communities.
