A. Clinical/Technical/Service
1. Provides all electromyography and nerve conduction testing of patients to investigate and diagnose the entire spectrum of neuromuscular diseases
2. Uses the latest equipment to perform all available specialized EMG techniques
3. Performs motor and sensory nerve conduction studies under the supervision of the Director of the Neuromuscular Division
4. Obtains intake information including clinical symptoms and past illnesses
5. Explains the procedure and answers patients questions
6. Positions the patient for the procedure and places electrodes in proper locations
7. Records test responses and measurements during the procedure
8. Inputs patient data and EMG results into a report generation program
9. Assists with the compilation of the data prior to evaluation by the Director
10. Maintains the laboratory and related equipment
11. Ensures compliance with hospital and departmental infection control standards
12. Collaborates in other elements of patient care operations to facilitate optimal EMG/NCS testing workflow and patient experience.
13. Collaborates with Mount Sinai Health System IT support teams as well as electrodiagnostic testing equipment vendor representatives and the department to provide technical maintenance and improvements as appropriate
14. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical psychosocial educational safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients serve in assigned area Age Specific Competencies (including Neonate/Infant Pediatric Adolescent Adult)
15. Participates in the departments performance improvement activities
16. Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information
17. Observes the Health Care Systems compliance policies
