Thermo Fisher Scientific Filtration and Separation Division (FSD) Meriden Connecticut facility is seeking a Quality Assurance Microbiology Technician to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities

As a Quality Assurance Microbiology Technician you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with a diverse group of individuals from around the world. Here you will make an impact by:

• Completing testing of filtration products in accordance with standard operating procedures work instructions and quality control plans.
• Performing all general laboratory functions including preparing biological media reagents glassware and equipment for bacteriological and chemical testing while maintaining a sufficient supply of consumable materials for completing tasks.
• Environmental monitoring of air and water including bioburden bacterial endotoxin and viable & non-viable particulate.
• Issuing Certificates of Analysis and Certificates of Compliance as requested.
• Assisting in the management of non-conforming material and out of specification investigations.
• Participating in the development of new test procedures and modification of existing procedures as necessary as well as participating in ongoing product and process improvement efforts.
• Maintaining a well-organized sufficiently detailed laboratory notebook documenting work and analyses performed; enters data into appropriate databases as necessary.

Education

To set you up for success in this role from day one 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• High school/G.E.D. level of education or equivalent experience through training is normally required to apply knowledge of skills and methods instructed in craft or vocational/technical areas. Must have a complete understanding of quality procedures techniques statistical sampling products and equipment.
• B.S. Degree in Microbiology or Life Sciences is preferred.
• ASQ Certification as a Quality Technician or equivalent is desired and encouraged.

Experience

1-3 years of related laboratory experience required.

• Flexible and responsive to changing priorities; able to multi-task; good organizational skills; attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Power BI.
