Job Duties:

The Department of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Superior invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Teacher Education with a concentration in Early Childhood and Literacy.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Department: Department of Education

Full-Time: 100% Faculty Ongoing 9-month appointment one vacancy

Job Responsibilities:

  • Teach 12 credits per semester.
  • Teach early childhood and elementary education courses including elementary literacy methods (based in the science of reading) on campus and online.
  • Serve as program lead for the Birth-Grade 3 License Early Childhood Education (ECED) including maintenance of and compliance with accreditation through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and support for ECED adjunct instructors.
  • Advise and mentor students in the Elementary Education Birth to Grade 3 License Program.
  • Participate in program development and oversight of elementary education majors and early childhood minor.
  • Provide an on-campus presence to meet with and to serve students and to work with colleagues in the department and across campus to fulfill service roles.
  • Collaborate with local educational institutions and programs including PK-12 schools and childcare centers.
  • Engage in scholarship in field(s) of academic expertise.
  • Engage in program departmental university and community service.

Other Duties:

  • Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with the science of learning legislation similar to Wisconsins Act 20. Link about Wisconsins Act 20
  • Experience with university-level teaching in teacher preparation programs including online instruction.
  • Experience collaborating with PK-12 schools for field placements clinical placements or residencies.

Compensation: Salary range for this position is: $56000 - $62000 annually.
