Description
Provides law enforcement services for the Bronson Emergency Department Bronson Hospital hospital grounds and the neighborhoods in close proximity to Bronson. Monitor crime statistics and share information with Bronson administration to design crime prevention strategies. Assist Bronson Security Officers and Bronson administrators with emergency crisis planning and building-security issues. Maintain visibility in those areas of the hospital campus as determined by Bronson administrators. This position is part-time and expected to work 20 hours per week.
Examples of Duties
The BCPD Bronson BC Officer shall provide Police Services to Bronson through prevention education and problem-solving via community based relationships. Activities which may be engaged in by the Bronson BC Officer include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide law enforcement services for the Bronson Emergency Department Bronson Hospital hospital grounds and the neighborhoods in close proximity to Bronson.
- Investigate criminal activity; enforce state statutes and city ordinances.
- Monitor crime statistics and share information with Bronson administration to design crime prevention strategies.
- Assist Bronson Security Officers and Bronson administrators with emergency crisis planning and building-security issues.
- Maintain visibility in those areas of the hospital campus as determined by Bronson administrators.
- Have exceptional communication skills with hospital staff administration and patients and families.
- Bronson BC Officers may take any law enforcement actions they deem necessary during the normal course of their duties up to and including but not limited to making arrests issuing citations submitting cases etc.
Typical Qualifications
- Associates degree with coursework in criminal justice or related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Currently or previously licensed (within the last 5 years) by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES).
- Valid drivers license in the State of Michigan.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 or more years experience as an MCOLES licensed law enforcement officer preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
