Job Summary
The Ultrasound Technologist (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with RVT) provides diagnostic patient care using ultrasound and related techniques to perform routine vascular interventional and non-invasive procedures.
Education Requirements
Licenses and Certifications (Required)
Experience and Skills
One year of relevant experience preferred (new graduates considered based on department needs)
Ability to function as a team player
Strong organizational and time management skills
Experience with Microsoft Office preferred
Bilingual skills preferred
Must demonstrate professionalism confidentiality and the ability to remain composed under pressure
Familiarity with value management techniques for cost-effective care
Key Responsibilities
1. Infection Control & Safety
Follows all MHS policies and wears ID badge
Uses aseptic techniques observes strict infection control protocols
Cleans/disinfects equipment and work area regularly
Operates equipment safely at all times
2. Patient Care & Clinical Duties
Verifies patient identity and procedure
Ensures informed consent is obtained
Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxiety
Confers with radiologists and adjusts to emergent situations
Performs procedures professionally while maintaining confidentiality
3. Administrative Functions & Patient Throughput
Reports availability to team leader
Volunteers for additional assignments
Adapts to schedule changes
Ensures procedures are completed accurately and promptly
4. Imaging Support & Quality Assurance
Monitors and reports equipment condition
Maintains adequate supplies and inventory
Demonstrates cost-conscious behavior
Accurately documents procedures and charges using PACS and HIS/RIS
5. Training & Development
Assists in orientation of new staff
Participates in student education and skill development
Acts as a departmental resource when others are absent
Participates in CQI and hospital improvement programs
6. Customer Service
7. Technical Competence
Applies cognitive sonographic skills
Adapts procedures to suit anatomical and pathological needs
Demonstrates proper sterile technique and equipment handling
