Job Summary

The Mobile Operating Engineer will be responsible for the operation inspection maintenance and repair of HVAC mechanical electrical plumbing and production systems across assigned AT&T facilities. This hands-on role ensures equipment runs at peak efficiency and longevity while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and compliance. Candidates must demonstrate deep technical expertise in at least one trade (Electrical HVAC Plumbing Central Utility Plant or Material Handling) and possess multi-skill capability to handle various building systems.


Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Operations

  • Perform preventive maintenance and responsive repairs on facility systems and equipment.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC systems electrical panels plumbing fixtures and interior/exterior facility components.

  • Monitor and maintain building automation systems life safety systems and utility systems.

  • Conduct inspections identify equipment issues and recommend solutions to minimize downtime.

Safety & Compliance

  • Complete hazard assessments and adhere to all company and client safety procedures.

  • Maintain work areas with good housekeeping practices.

  • Ensure compliance with local state and federal codes and regulations.

  • Participate in required safety training and practice defensive driving.

Administrative Duties

  • Accurately update work order statuses using CMMS platforms (e.g. Corrigo).

  • Submit P-card receipts and maintain documentation related to repairs and maintenance.

  • Communicate effectively with clients and management regarding escalations or ongoing issues.

  • Attend scheduled meetings and trainings as required.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in building engineering with strong technical knowledge of HVAC plumbing and electrical systems.

  • Trade school or apprenticeship in HVAC electrical plumbing or related field preferred.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Universal CFC certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).

  • Additional trade certifications preferred (e.g. 3rd party technical certifications).

  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record and ability to pass a vehicle safety inspection.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication.

  • Basic computer literacy including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

  • Work at heights and in extreme temperatures.

  • Climb ladders (up to 30 feet) while carrying equipment.

  • Frequent physical activity: bending lifting stooping and extended overhead work.

  • Ability to drive long distances between sites as required.


Other Requirements:

  • Must be available for on-call and emergency response work as needed.

  • Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned in a dynamic work environment.
