Job Summary
Good Samaritan Home of Quincy is looking for a HeadCook to join our growing team! The right candidate will have experience as a cook and have the ability to organize and multi-task. Your main task will be to prepare food in a safe sanitary way bycurrent federal state and local standards guidelines and regulations.
Pay Range: $19.06 - $21.06

Responsibilities:
- Prepares and portions food items for the daily meals on a routine basis.
- Assure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Serves meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
- Oversees food preparation and sanitation in the production area on a daily basis (Head Cook only).
- Serves as department supervisor overseeing department operations on the evening shift and on the weekend (Head Cook only).
- Prepares food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus.
- Prepares food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders.
- Prepares meals in accordance with planned menus.
- Prepares meals in a timely manner.
- Assist in daily cleaning duties in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Must possess and maintain a state approved Food Service Sanitation Certificate (Head Cook).
- Must possess and maintain a state approved Food Service Sanitation Certificate or an approved Food Handlers Course Certificate (Assistant Cook and Baker).
- Must be able to read write speak and comprehend English in an understandable manner and be able to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must be able to deal tactfully with staff residents family members visitors government agencies and the general public.
- Must possess leadership ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with staff.
- Must be able to develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel as well as other departments within the facility to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
- Must create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth personal interest and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the department.
- Must be able to lift loads in excess of 25 lbs. and perform a variety of physical requirements including balancing crouching fingering grasping lifting pulling pushing reaching standing stooping bending kneeling and twisting. Job requires repetitive movements and standing for long periods of time.
SAFETY AND SANITATION:
- Prepare food accordance with sanitary regulations as well as established policies and procedures.
Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability
