Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Surgical Step Down unit providing specialized care to postoperative patients in a dynamic academic medical center environment. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality nursing care during night shifts to patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring and intervention.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Licensure: Active New York State RN license; Current BLS certification (or willing to recertify).
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in an acute care facility.
Technical Skills: EPIC EMR experience strongly preferred.
Soft Skills: Strong clinical assessment critical thinking and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and assess postoperative patients requiring intermediate care
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans
Utilize EPIC EMR for accurate documentation
Provide patient and family education
Respond to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions
